To Protect Your Privacy in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 on a Mac

We suggest that you read this once to get a general sense of the steps before you go through the site. This will serve as a reminder for you to Clear History before you leave the site.

Description of the general steps

1. Clear History (Edit, Preferences, Web Browser, Advanced, History, Clear History) to delete the record of where you have been. This record can be found by clicking "Go" on the top tool bar.

2. Empty Cache (Edit, Preferences, Web Browser, Advanced, Cache, Empty Now) to delete the location of the websites that you visited. The location of the cache is shown in this same command box.

This is the last thing to do before you get off the Web.

Detailed steps are presented with visuals below.

Click "Edit". You will be shown a pull-down menu. Move your cursor to "Preferences" and release.

In the left column, make sure the Web Browser menu is dropped open. Select "Advanced".

On the right, the top two boxes reveal where you have spent your time on the Internet. All you need to do is Clear History and Empty (Cache) Now—two clicks and you're done.

CLEAR HISTORY

When you click on the "Clear History" button, you will be asked to confirm.

Clicking on "OK" will clear your history.

EMPTY CACHE

After you've cleared your history, move down to the Cache area, put your cursor on "Empty Now," and click.

Close Preferences by clicking "OK".

After you have cleared these, note that your list of locations under the Go menu is gone.

Now you can close Internet Explorer and sign off.
