To Protect Your Privacy in Netscape 7.0 on a Mac

We suggest that you read this once to get a general sense of the steps before you go through the site. This will serve as a reminder for you to Clear History before you leave the site.

Description of the general steps

1. Clear History (Edit, Preferences, Navigator, History, Browsing History, Clear History) to delete the record of where you have been. This record can be found by clicking "Go" on the top tool bar.

2. Clear Location Bar (Edit, Preferences, Navigator, History, Location Bar History, Clear Location Bar) to delete the location of the websites that you visited. This record can be found in the drop down menu beside the current location in the top tool bar.

This is the last thing to do before you get off the Web.

Detailed steps are presented with visuals below.

Click "Edit". You will be shown a pull-down menu. Move your cursor to "Preferences" and release.

In the left column, make sure the Navigator menu is dropped open. Select "History".

On the right, you have three choices relating to your history. Since your recent pages will all be forgotten once you sign off Netscape, you don't need to zero that box. All you need to do is Clear History and Clear Location Bar—two clicks and you're done.

CLEAR HISTORY

Click the "Clear History" button.

CLEAR LOCATION BAR

After you've cleared your history, move your cursor to "Clear Location Bar" and click.

Close the Preferences Menu by pressing "OK".

After you have cleared these, note that your History file and the Location Bar are blank. Now you can close Netscape and sign off.
